Another successful week. I lost a few pounds, but did not lose any inches, which is a little disappointing. The last two weeks my change in inches has been really slow, even though I have done a pretty good job with the weight loss. In our family, this week is "Birthday Week." There is a birthday every other day this week, which means lots of treats, food that isn't that great for me (usually the birthday boy or girl gets to choose what they want for dinner), and general merriment. This year for my birthday, I am asking Emily to make rice cakes. It should be awesome!
Anyway, I have to say thank you to everyone for all of your encouragement. I have been surprised to find so many people emailing, calling, or talking to me about how inspiring I have been. To be honest, I don't feel that inspiring, but I am very happy that you feel that way.
Because I have been a bit inspiring to some of you, I thought I would try my hand at getting you to take the plunge and start a diet. I know exactly what you are thinking (because I have thought it before to): "I plan on starting right after the holidays, but I can't start now, not with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming!" That is fine. I just thought that with the holidays fast approaching it would be a great time to "inspire" you to start watching what you eat. I read an interesting article on the a New York Times' blog Well the other day. It is a few years old, but it is still pretty timely. According to it, the average American gains one pound during the holidays. Not too bad, if you think about it. The problem is that the average American NEVER loses that one pound. (So, if you are 60 years old, you can blame being 60 pounds over weight exclusively on Thanksgiving and Christmas!) For people already overweight, the average weight gain during the holidays is five pounds. That is not good, and I can say that because I easily fit into this category.
Anyway, many people have been asking about the Live the Life program, which is the diet that I am on. I am, obviously, sold on its ability to help people lose weight, and I would highly recommend you check it out. To the right, I have listed several of their webpages linked specifically to information that you may have. Their website is okay, but can little short on details, so if you have any questions at all, please feel free to give me a call, shoot me an email, or leave a comment. I will be happy to talk through things with you. Now, in an effort to provide full disclosure, if you click on one of the links from my blog and you one of the Live the Life products, I receive a 17 percent commission on the sale. I DO NOT WANT THE COMMISSION. I have been working with Kristi Approved (which is the company that owns Live the Life) to see if they will convert this 17 percent commission into a 17 percent discount for people that use my website. At this point, they seem willing to do this, but you cannot order online, you have to call. If you are interested in purchasing the program after exploring the website or talking with me, let me know and I will coordinate with the people at Kristi Approved to get you a better deal on the program.
Thanks, and come on, Live the Life with me!

I am picturing you giving this endorsement in a loud booming "billy mays" voice. Perhaps you have found our calling. : )
