So today, I would like to disclose some information that America has wanted to know ever since Black Friday: Did I eat pumpkin pie? I have gotten many inquiries as to whether I did actually eat pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I did not know so many people would be so interested, and while I am fond of leaving such questions unanswered, I suppose that this really isn't as intriguing a question as whether Elvis is alive and well somewhere in Appalachia.
Anyway, for those loyal enough to have read this blog all the way to Day 73 (I only have 10 days left after today!), this is the great reveal, the time when I tell you if I actually ate pumpkin pie.
Before I give the answer, let me explain something. As everyone knows, pumpkin pie is this quintessential part of the Thanksgiving Day feast. As a result, it would have been odd to have a poll that asked, "Should I eat a piece of peach pie" or "a piece of Boston cream pie" or something like that. In reality, I actually don't like pumpkin pie all that much, so it really wasn't hard for me to not eat the pie. That is right, I withstood the temptation and did not eat pumpkin pie. But, if that was all the story, I would be only telling a half-truth. I did, in fact, have a few other treats on Thanksgiving. My big mistake was three orange rolls that my Aunt Judy made. Aunt Judy is an amazing cook, and these rolls were wonderful. I also had one bite of apple pie, which was the "healthiest" pie at the table (hey, it had a fruit). What I really wanted was some black bottom pie made by my aunt, but I was too afraid I would not be able to resist its soft, smooth, velvety texture. It was much harder to resist than not eating pumpkin pie.
So there you have it. I made a few mistakes, but overall, I would say Thanksgiving went pretty well. Frankly, the bigger challenge will be Christmas. Since my final weigh in is December 27, I will not have any time to make up for mistakes I make on Friday and Saturday next week . . . .
