Day 16: I Will Not Eat What I Hate

Okay, so yesterday I wrote about hating eggs.  Today, I ran out of chocolate protein powder so I was forced to use vanilla protein powder.  I really, really, really don't like vanilla protein powder.  I think it has such an unnatural, synthetic, chemically taste.  Honestly, I think these companies try too hard to make the protein taste good and in the process they make it taste even worse than if it was just plain protein.

Anyway, I have just decided that I am not going to eat things I don't like.  No more soy beans, no more vanilla protein powder, and no more eggs.  Well, maybe not the eggs.  The problem with eggs is that they are really easy to make and they have a lot of protein in them.  I just wish I could eat them with ketchup, but since that is not happening, I am going to have to find something I can do with eggs that will either make me like them, or at least make them tolerable.  (By the way, my good friend Paul emailed me today entreating me to just have a little ketchup.  "How much harm could it do?" he queried.  Paul, you are right, one tablespoon would not be a problem, but to down all of these eggs, I really need more like a cup of ketchup, and that is simply too much.  Thanks for the support though, I can tell that, like me, you are a true ketchup aficionado.)

I am starting to realized that my "diet" really needs to be a lifestyle change.  I need to start changing my use of the term diet to stop referring to a thing I am trying to finish (like a race or a term paper or a work assignment) and more of a long-term process (that is, something that I do every day and live with).  In "real life," I would never eat something that I hate.  I hate tomatoes, I hate pistachio pudding, I hate peppermint ice cream.  I just don't ever eat these things.  Just because I am on a diet and someone tells me to eat something, does not mean that I have to or that I have to like it.

So, I am not going to eat things I don't like, unless I have a commitment to start liking them (like bananas, I really don't like bananas, but I think they are good for you and they are so easy to cart around, so I am trying to like them).  Since I have no intention of ever liking soy beans or vanilla protein powder, they are officially out.  I will not eat them anymore.  Of course, I am willing to keep an open mind.  If anyone has a good suggestion for a vanilla protein powder, feel free to leave a comment and let me know.  I think it will be harder for anyone to come up with a way to make me like soy beans, but if you have one, you can let me know about that too.  Thanks!

No suggestions for you yet. But, I do have some great thoughts about how to prepare tomatoes and peppermint ice cream. I LOVE these things and am subjected to far too little of them at home.

I guess I am just a dreamer. Still hoping someday you will eat some of what you hate...

I am not sure what brand you are using on the protein powder...but I have been using the chocolate muscle milk from Costco. I like the powder HATE the pre-made shakes...I don't know about vanilla though sounds gross to me!!! They also have carb-master Breyers ice cream made with Splenda that I occasionally buy and slip into my protein shakes, but only the morning ones! it makes a HUGE difference. My kids love it too! Glad to see the progress, and know someone is working at this just as hard as me!!! Love ya!
