Day 200: The White House Easter Egg Roll

Yesterday was a pretty fun day.  Around 5:00 we got to take the kids to the Easter Egg Roll at the White House.  After discussing a few foreign policy matters with the President, and ribbing the VP on falling asleep during the President's budget speech a few weeks ago, Emily and I took the kids over to roll Easter Eggs on the back lawn of the White House.

It was quite fun, and the girls had a great time.  The "theme" of the egg roll this year was a healthy living one:  "Get up and go!"  As a result, the Park Service had set up a "Yoga Garden" and cooking demonstrations.  Neither of these seemed too popular.  Of course, everyone was lined up for miles to get their free box of Peeps and listen to Willow Smith.  I had never heard of this person before, but she is apparently Will Smith's daughter.  (I actually thought it was the name of the musical group itself, but apparently, the girls name is actually Willow.  I wonder if she is named after her dad?)  Anyway, her hit song is called "Whip My Hair," a song that I admit I did not stick around to hear.  Anyway, each of the girls got their box of Peeps and given my low blood sugar by 6:00, they all obliged and gave me one of their marshmallow chicks to sustain me on the walk to the Metro.

As a result of this Easter Egg roll, I learned that by "Getting Up and Go"ing to White House Easter Egg Roll we got free samples of Peeps, M&Ms, Coca-Cola, and Wilson tennis balls.  I also learned nothing about living a healthier life.  At least each of the girls ended up with a Wilson tennis ball.  When we got home, I drove them all to the tennis courts down the street so they could work off all the calories they had consumed from the Peeps, M&Ms and Coke.
