Day 201: Healthy Teeth

So, yesterday evening I went to the dentist.  I have been having some pain in one of my teeth, which really bothers me because I have been doing a pretty good job avoiding candy, which we all know is the sole reason we get cavities.  The good news:  no cavities.  The bad news:  I apparently brush "too well."  Yes, that is right folks, there is such thing as getting your teeth too clean.  I apparently have brushed my teeth too hard, and have worn the gums down and exposed the root of a tooth.  Honestly, it is the most ridiculous thing in the world.  Here I am eating better (no candy, no sugary drinks) and now I have a problem that may actually be worse than a cavity.

The dentist said that ultimately I could need "gum grafts" to cover up the exposed areas, but that for the time being, we would be "conservative."  Seriously, "gum grafts."  It is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.  Anyway, because I clean my teeth too well, I now have to brush "softly" with some special toothpaste.

So, the moral of the story is this:  Do not brush your teeth.  If you do decide to brush your teeth, brush them softly so that at least some of the plaque stays on your teeth.  Do not clean your teeth "too well."

Jeff - Hi it's Raelynn... I was reading Emily's blog and clicked over here. Happened to scroll down and saw the words "gum grafts"... I had to laugh because both Sam and I have had gum grafts across six of our bottom teeth!

CONGRATS on the move and new career path. Sounds really exciting. I have been bugging Emily :-) to get together before your move. Good luck with everything and I'll keep you in my prayers for selling your house.
