So, as part of my new exercise routine, I have taken up running about 2 miles three days a week. I do this at about 5:00 am, before I start work. When we moved to Boise, we decided to downsize for a number of reasons. As a result, we gave up the treadmill (we simply have no room for it anymore). So, I have been forced to run outside. (Actually, our community does have a "club house" with treadmills and weights, but it is about a mile from where we live, and it just seems stupid to me to drive one mile to the club house, run for two miles on a treadmill, and then drive a mile back to the house.)
I started running outside last week, and remember just how nice it is to run in the out of doors. I pretty much gave this up when we moved to Virginia because it was simply too humid for me to run. I am a natural sweater (let's be honest, most fat people are), so when you exercise, then add humidity, it is never a good thing. I tried running a few times, but inevitably I just overheated. This is not the case in the west. With a complete lack of humidity, I am actually able to enjoyably run outside again. This is particularly the case in the morning and evening, when the sometimes oppressive heat is gone.
If you are a treadmiller (this is what I call people who run on a treadmill), you should really try an outside run. The fresh air and scenery a nice change of pace (no pun intended). Of course, it is a little harder on your feet and knees, but for me it is worth it to avoid listening to bad music and scantily-clad muscle men at the gym.

Stop trying to claim status in the protected group of weight challenged people. You are the furthest thing from fat. I can just imagine that nice fresh air out west. JEALOUS. Now, onto more important things - you have had 4,100 page views?? I just noticed the counter for the 1st time today. WOW, you are a rockstar. Now you need some advertisements...
